Why do housewives/homemakers always include cleaning the house in their list of duties? I noticed it in some of the answers to a recent question, and I see it every time a question like this comes along. Seriously, how do they think that the homes of working people get cleaned? Sure, a few can hire maids and gardeners, but the average working Joe (or Jane) has to clean the house, shop for groceries, pay the bills, and so forth. Do they really need kudos for that? Do they really need to stay home full time just to run the vacuum? I will give them childcare and homeschooling to some extent, but working mothers have to do those things too, or at least make those arrangements for their children to be where they need to be. My mom homeschooled my sister while working full-time. And working moms have to take time off to take the kids to the doctor. And SINGLE working moms have it the toughest. At least if there is a father at home, it is assumed he does some of the household duties if his wife works. But single working mothers have to do it all, all by themselves. They do everything a SAHM does, but with 40 hours less a week to do it in. So anyway, I'm curious to know why you SAHMs always include basic adult duties (housekeeping, billpaying, yardwork) in your list of reasons of why you need to stay at home. Note: I have no problem with SAHMs. I just get irritated with them sometimes when they act like they're the only ones who have a house to clean and bills to pay. What do YOU have on YOUR cleaning list? I am 20 years old and living at home still while I go to college. Our house is VERY big (about 6,000 square feet which does not include the basement or 5 car garage!!) and it takes a LONG time to clean! Becuase I'm usually good at it, my mom has asked me to come up with a weekly list of "house hold chorse". What is to be done on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays etc... Some things need to be done every day (dishes for example) and some things need to be done only once a week (washing bedding for example) And then there are other things that should maybe be done once a month (Dusting above doorways and windows etc..) With this list we are hoping to avoid having things build up (like the dust building up above those door ways!!) .. Can I list my house "for sale by owner" and then contact one of the people who viewed my house with an agent? Question about moving everything out of the house before we list it for sale? I asked a question previously about moving the items out of our house and most of the reponses said NOT to move everything out as it will become harder for people to imagine themselves or their things in the house...etc. Well I have another question: All of the furniture in our house is just really old and raggedy, nothing matches...bedspreads are handme-downs...you get the picture. We are 22 years old and we just don't have any "nice" stuff so it's not like they'd be walking into a really pretty decorated house. So considering that- will it HURT to move the stuff out or should we keep the furniture there even though it's pretty much an eyesore LOL. Security Deposit on Rental house / Lost Deficiencies list.? When we moved in to our current place, we did the walk through to check for anything that was wrong with the place already. We were never provided with a copy of the deficiencies list, only the lease. A couple months back, I contacted my landlord to ask for a copy of the list so I'd have something to reference while we were returning the property to its original condition. He told me that shortly after we moved in, he totalled his car and lost many documents, our deficiencies list, being on of them. We will obviously do our very best to clean the house and get it into 'move in' condition. We even decided to not hang any pictures so we didn't have to repair nail holes. My question is.......If our landlord claims that the place was better before we move, but doesn't have any written documentation to support that, how am I suppose to approach him with that without being rude? FYI. We moved in March 2005, so we've been here about 2 years. I never noticed I didn't the list until recently when we found out that we'd be moving soon.

Our house is on the market and our dogs have been kenneled--is it ok to bring them home?Life balance as seller It's been almost 3 months. Part of our frustration in keeping our house listed is our dogs are kenneled to preserve the new lanscaping, floors, etc. If we bring them home and keep them groomed and then confined or out of the house when people are looking do you think it would ruin our chances of selling if we brought them home? I miss them so much! Also--it's $900 p/m to kennel them and we are going into debt to keep them somewhere else. to keep our home in pristine condition. If we bring them home would it reduce our showings if we asked for extra notice to clean any dog hair and arrange kenneling them for a couple of hours at the dog kennel? We'd be changing the showing instructions from "call and show" to "by apt. only". Help! I want my life back to some degree. It has only been listed a week but it is the dead of winter and things are slow. Housing inspection to follow and offer is subject to its findings. We are thinking of offering $150,000. Any advice?
