What hoover/vacuum cleaner is best for cleaning carpet and sucking up dogs hair?
I have a dog and the carpet is now starting to smell of dog. Anyone know what hoover/vacuum cleaner is best that will wash the carpet and make it smell nice again but will also suck up dogs hair, dust etc? Thank you in advance

- Dyson! Its $$$ but worth every red cent!
- i have a vacuum with a special pet hair attachment...its a bissell momentum!!
- Dyson Animal
- I have an oreck and it does better than any hoover I ever owned
- yeah dyson pet hoover, purple. you can get reconditioned ones on ebay for cheaper but they are just like new! i got one and it is fantastic (i have a long hair german shepheard)
- a vax wet and dry, you shampoo the carpet first then vac it ,you can get some dry powder to sprinkle on it,which you then vac up.
- Dyson is definitely the best. With 7 critters in my home, the hair is atrocious and the Dyson handles it with ease. They also have a dry carpet cleaning system that you sprinkle and then use the attachment. I have been through a few vacuums that could not stand up...the dyson is 2 years old and going strong. I vacuum almost daily. I found it picks up better than any of the other previous ones I owned. When I brought my Dyson home, I actually vacuumed the area rug with my Hoover (10 min and it is 6X9) and then with the Dyson. I got two full canisters of hair and dirt Also baking soda sprinkled in the carpet for about 20 minutes before vacuuming really helps with odors. Dyson is definitely worth the $$$.
- Eureka boss with pet hair remover, it has been compared to the Dyson and has just as much suction power. It is only 150 dollars at best buy. I have a Saint Benard, I know about shedding, the vacuum runs on bags but works AWESOME, just us the Turbo Paw Brush it comes with and hair will be gone.
- ive tryed dyson hoover for animals and i found that a henry hoover was much much better.
- I don't know about wash the carpet because I've never found wet/dry hoovers to be any good at actually sucking pet hair up. My advice would be to (a) maybe wash your dog more regularly because even when mine is moulting heavily neither he or the house smells of dog (b) get someone in the clean the carpet and then (c) buy a Dyson Animal vaccuum - brilliant at getting up those pesky dog hairs as well as all your other everyday dirt. Good luck!
- I like the Dyson and the Bissell Lift-Off Revolution (my "downstairs" vacuum...about $180) Here are Consumer Reports top rated vacuums for pet hair: 1. Kenmore Progressive #35922 $300 2. Kenmore Progressive #36932 $350 3. Riccar SupraLite RSL3 (F3500) $330 4. Riccar Brilliance Premium $750 5. Riccar Supralite RSL4 $450 The Dyson DC17 was ranked #7 overall, and had a "pet hair" test rating of very good. The five listed above were the uprights that were listed as excellent for pet hair. In my opinion, I'd get the Dyson if you can afford it (about $550)...I like it better because it's bagless. I would go through SO many bags with 3 big shedders in my house! One more thing to remember, most of us don't vacuum properly. It's been shown that to really get the dirt, dander, etc. out of the carpet, you need to go over the carpet FOUR times each time you vacuum (in different directions)! It's a lot more work, and while I just do a quick vacuum to pick up dog hair daily, I do make sure to vacuum thoroughly every weekend (it helps). Even though the carpet won't last as long doing so, I try to steam clean the carpets every month, too. It helps keep the dog smell at bay. I only have carpet in 2 rooms of my house, thankfully, or I'd never keep up with it!
- the dyson
- I supply and fit carpets, and I consider the Henry to be the best, its used by many stores. It dos'nt need a bag, its heavy duty (will pick up stones, bits of rubble, e.t.c. and has 2 settings to cater for medium grap or a very powerful grab. I swear by my henry. When I get to a job where builders have just finished a job (messy buggers :-) my henry comes in handy. And when I've fitted a carpet, the henry picks up the left over bits of carpet, nails, fluff e.t.c. Go to curry's and see what they use to hoover their floors(a Henry), costs a little over £100, but worth every penny Hope this helps
- Miele its the best!
- (1) Dyson DC07 Animal (2) Oreck Many people also recommend the 'Henry' but if your dog has a stiff coat the hairs dig down into the carpet and need a rotating brush as well as just good suction.
